England’s sensational goalkeeper who made an amazing effort to put England through to the world cup quarter finals, Jordan Pickford has got engaged to his long time sweetheart Megan Davison.
England’s latest knight in shining armor Jordan, went from being a cocky kid in Tyne and Wear, to the saviour of the Three Lions by helping them secure a place in the last eight, at the ongoing 2018 world cup, through his one handed penalty save, which gained them victory against the Colombian side.
Putting his single status and independence aside, the skillful goalkeeper has taken steps to seal his fate by proposing to Megan, his childhood girlfriend, who revealed the news by posting a picture of herself during last Tuesday’s nail- biting penalty shoot-out on Instagram where a sparkling ring was spotted on her wedding finger. A clear indication that the England keeper has been quite busy outside the field.
“It was a private matter.” Jordan’s agent said after he confirmed the news of the couple’s engagement, although he did not elaborate. It is not certain exactly how Jordan went about the proposal but Megan’s social media posts indicate that it happened between the middle of May, during their holiday in Barbados, and Jordan’s flight to Russia with the England squad.
Jordan Pickford joined Sunderland’s Academy of Light at the young age of eight, yet his career was threatened when he was hit by a car twice. Jordan Purvis, 27, who still lives in the same terrace where the player grew up, said: ” It was when he was mucking about, playing around in the streets as we all did. He was knocked over on two different occasions. Thankfully, he wasn’t injured either time.”
“Jordan always had a penalty save in him from a young age. It was a fine save, he got a good strong hand to it, and it was great for pickers individually because he got a bit of stick after Belgium game”
Said his first coach Ged McNamee. However, in spite of flouting England’s world cup penalty shootout curse, his team mates say he in no way wanted to be a keeper.
